COME SING WITH US AND BE ON OUR CHRISTMAS SHOW!
IT'S FREE, ABSOLUTELY NO COST! MEN, WOMEN AND FAMILY WELCOME!
The Come Sing With Us (CSWU) chorus will begin rehearsals on Wednesday, October 10th, 7:00-8:30pm, and continue up to Dec 12th, in preparation for our December 15th shows (at 2pm and 7pm) at North Kitsap Community Auditorium. The CSWU will not rehearse on October 24th since West Sound Chorus will be in final preparation for Evergreen District contest in Spokane that coming weekend. An extra "Tech" rehearsal is done at the venue the evening before the show, and your voluntary participation would probably be a short period of about 30 minutes.
We will have about 5 songs that will be rehearsed with the regular West Sound Chorus guys, and they will be learning them, too. These songs are familiar, but not often sung in concert, and certainly never on our show, or most any barbershop show. Some are specially arranged by our esteemed director, Mike Menefee.
Although not a requirement, we always try to perform without holding a music folder. Besides forcing us to know the music and words better, it allows us to watch the director closely and to actually think a little bit about smiling and having relaxed movement while singing. You will be suprised how easily you pick up learning new music with the training tracks that we provide. As we practice our songs and harmonizing craft over those weeks, the music is delightfully engrained and becomes natural; that's part of the joy of what we do!
We want Men AND Women of all ages to join us. We would love to have youngsters on the risers. We generally say as young as 12, but lower age limit is really just based on a young person's ability to stay focused and unfidgety for 90 minutes, and to take direction easily. We accomodate mobility and standing ability issues.
It is not a requirement that you come to every rehearsal through the season, but the more you attend the better you'll get and have more fun.
It is not a requirement that you be on our show stage with us, but we sure would like to have you there. It's fun to sing to audiences of hundreds of people, and ours are very enthusiatic.
